Big Bear Lake, CA, January 26, 2014 – For 65 years, Old Miners Days have boosted Big Bear’s community pride and its economy. The Old Miners Association (OMA) is now gearing up for the 2014 calendar of events and is now recruiting new and returning members and sponsors.
Membership levels range from $25 to $999 and offer a variety of benefits–from discounts on merchandise and event tickets, invitations to unique activities and the annual party, as well as chances to test out new educational programs before they are launched.
Sponsorships are also available, starting at $1,000.
This support not only helps produce entertaining events like the Heritage Parade, it financially benefits local businesses and individuals. As an example of how donations to OMA go back into the community, in 2013, the organization awarded two $1,000 college/training scholarships through the Miss Clementine & Lucky Baldwin Scholarship Contest, and produced the 42nd annual Chili Cookoff, an International Chili Society-sanctioned competition that draws thousands of tourists.
The President of the Old Miners Association is a mining consultant who will be guiding efforts over the next few years to include multimedia exhibitions, interactive educational programs, and guided regional tours. Their future offerings also include educational programming for all ages to stimulate interest in mountain geology and the history of the Gold Rush in Holcomb Valley.
