Forest Falls, CA, September 7, 2014 – As Tropical Storm Norbert moves northwest off the coast of Baja California this weekend, the National Weather Service is warning of widespread thunderstorms. The showers are forecast to start late Saturday night and continue through Monday night over Southern California. Heavy precipitation could pose a significant risk for mountain communities in flash flood prone areas, bringing up to two inches of rain per hour.
In response, forest officials are closing some popular recreation areas in the San Bernardino Mountains. Specifically, the following locations/trails near Forest Falls will be closed to all public use, from midnight Saturday September 6 through midnight Monday, September 8:

• Momyer Trail 1E06
• Vivian Creek Trail 1E08
• Big Falls Trail 1E13
Forest visitors are reminded to NOT try to cross flowing water either on foot or in a vehicle, and to move immediately to higher ground when flash flooding is imminent. They are also encouraged to call the appropriate number before visiting to check on location conditions and restrictions:
