Big Bear, CA, March 28th, 2016 – The Big Bear Valley Trails Foundation, a nonprofit advocacy group, would like to see full-time paid trail staff for Big Bear. Other top notch resort destinations like Aspen, Mammoth Lakes, Breckenridge and Lake Tahoe have full-time staff involved in recreational trail promotion and maintenance.
Driz Cook, the chairman of the foundation, asks “…do you want to be in the big leagues?’ If not what you will get is work done at a volunteer pace.”
Volunteers have been the primary workforce in maintaining the trail system in the San Bernardino National Forest surrounding Big Bear Valley. Getting contributions through the Adopt-a-Trail program was a big success last year, and The Big Bear Valley Trails Foundation plans to expand for the 2016 season.
Visitors who come to the Big Bear Visitors Center at 630 Bartlett Road in The Village often blog about the convenience of being able to speak to a local Big Bear specialist.
The Big Bear Community should consider the merits of hiring trained, knowledgeable and profession full-time trail staff.
