Big Bear Lake, CA, September 12, 2014 – Internationally recognized musicians will be playing lakeside this month to raise money for our local animal sanctuary. Since debuting in 2010, the annual Blues for the Zoo concert has raised about $25,000 for the Big Bear Alpine Zoo. Now in its fifth year, the series that grew out of the Open Sky Music Festival has a loyal following that knows it can expect world-class talent. New this year is a September date instead of August, which its organizers say offers better access to performers who are busy during the summer touring season.
The nonprofit organization promoting the concert is Friends of the Big Bear Alpine Zoo, which supports the facility through fundraising, volunteer coordination and education. The zoo is a licensed care and rehabilitation center currently housing over 180 injured and confiscated animals, and it successfully releases back into the wild most of the rehabilitated animals. This year’s new additions are two partially blind Snow Leopards.
The concert–along with food booths and an artisan fair–is scheduled for Saturday, September 27 at the Big Bear Lake Swim Beach Outdoor Amphitheater.
