Big Bear Lake, CA, July 25, 2013 – The Big Bear Summer Theater Festival will host the annual Old Miners Association Karaoke Contest tonight from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The remaining contestants — Kassie Hanford, Monica Kistler, Wendy Knudson and Dani Bush — will battle it out at the Bear Cave Events Center, the big white tent at Bear Creek Resort.
There will be two categories: fundraising and talent. During the first round of competition, the People’s Choice Award will be given to the vocalist who has collected the most money to help underwrite all the activities produced by Old Miners. The second round offers a musical showcase, as the songsters perform for the coveted title of Best Vocalist. Reigning Karaoke champion Ariel Moreno — also a cast member in two of the Festival’s productions — will act as one of the judges.
Between the two rounds, the Theater Festival will present its production of the melodrama, “The Lost Van Dusen Gold Mine,” a comic take on a local legend. There is no charge to attend the Karaoke contest, and attendees also get free admission to the melodrama. Additionally, seniors aged 60 and up can pick up complimentary tickets to the Summer Theater Festival at the Big Bear Senior Center. They will be available after noon today on a first come, first served basis.
Bear Creek Resort is at 40210 Big Bear Blvd in the City of Big Bear Lake. For more information, visit the festival website or call (805) 807-9939.
