The hills will be alive with music, if you will, as there will be a number of bands and local musicians performing in the Big Bear Valley over the Labor Day weekend. Starting Friday evening, the Village Business Association hosts their second-to-last Friday Night in the Village event, which runs from 5 to 8pm and includes three different acts along Pine Knot Avenue and Village Drive. On Saturday evening, the music of John Denver comes to the Big Bear Discovery Center in the final concert of the Music in the Mountains series. Gates open at 5:30pm at the outdoor amphitheater, and John Denver tribute artist Jim Curry takes the stage at 7pm. Adult ticket price is $20, $10 for teens, and free for children, and proceeds from this concert event benefit Forest Aid and the Lighthouse Project’s local Peace Gardens. On Sunday evening, September 6, the Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District and KBHR Radio partner to present the Latin Society in a concert on the beach. Pre-sale tickets to the 6pm show are $8 each, and $10 at the gate, with all proceeds to benefit the Teen Center. Tickets can be purchased online at BigBearParks.com, or at the gate (open at 5:30pm) at Swim Beach, at Park Avenue’s west end in Big Bear Lake. (For both Saturday’s and Sunday’s outdoor concerts, beach chairs and blankets are recommended; both venues will have snack bars.)
