More activities are coming to Big Bear Lake, given permit approvals by the Board of Directors of the Big Bear Municipal Water District at their meeting of June 4. Among those items approved are the Antique and Classic Boat Show, to be held at the B’s BarBQ docks August 20-23, and use of B’s lakeshore for United States Adaptive Recreation Center summer programs on summer weekdays, as well as boat parking in the swimming area at Swim Beach for the Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District’s Fourth of July concert featuring Foreigner’s Lou Gramm. The MWD Board also granted a request from the San Bernardino National Forest Association, to assign the unused Juniper Point marina permit to them; the SBNFA’s canoe and kayak tours will now be able to launch from Juniper Point, which allows the closest proximity to the Big Bear Discovery Center. The MWD did hold on one request, though—rather than grant the City of Big Bear Lake a commercial marina permit for the Boulder Bay marina, this item was held for further discussion.
