REVISED: Big Bear Lake, CA, September 25, 2012 – Black bears have been spotted frequently in residential neighborhoods in recent weeks, pawing through trash cans and even bird feeders. In both Fawnskin and Sugarloaf, female adult bears have been making the rounds with a pair of cubs. Residents are advised to use animal proof trash cans and store them away from the street until the morning of trash pickups. Residents are encouraged to take garbage to local free disposal sites for both trash and recyclables. Big Bear Lake residents only can take trash to the disposal site across from the Big Bear Lake Civic Center on Big Bear Blvd or to the Clean Bear Site #1 on Garstin Drive. Big Bear City residents only can take trash to the CSD Paradise Maintenance Yard on Paradise Road and Grenfall Lane.
