Holcomb Valley, CA, September 3, 2012 [Updated] – Firefighters have been able to keep the Delmar Fire from spreading. The blaze was reported at about 2:15pm this afternoon. The small Vegetation Fire near Bertha Peak in the Holcomb Valley area, was about 4 miles Northwest of Big Bear City has burned about 2 acres. The Forest Service initiated a first alarm response and ordered aircraft, including Air Attack 330. The response also included 4 trucks. CalFire Tankers 72 and 73 made retardant drops and Forest Service Helicopter 554 was also in the area. At 3:30pm there was a hose lay around the fire and according to Delmar Incident Command the fire was about two acres. There were no reports of any injuries and no structures were damaged. The fire is not a threat to Big Bear Valley at this time.

[Original Story] – Holcomb Valley, CA, September 3, 2012 – At 2:15 PM this afternoon there was a report of a small Vegetation Fire near Bertha Peak in the Holcomb Valley area, about 4 miles Northwest of Big Bear City. The Forest Service initiated a first alarm response and there’s aircraft on order, Air Attack 330 is on the way. The estimated size of the fire from first responders is about one to 1.5 acres with a moderate rate of spread. The Forest service staging area is on Forest Service Road 2N09F. CalFire Tankers 72 and 73 have made retardant drops that may have slowed the spread of the fire. Forest Service Helicopter 554 is also in the area. The fire is being called the Delmar Fire.
