UPDATE 10/5 – As of 10:00 am this morning, containment is at 95% with full containment expected this evening.
UPDATE 10/4 – As of 6:30 pm Monday evening, the Delamar fire was at 87% containment.
Big Bear, CA, October 3, 2016 – Firefighters are working a wildland fire on Delamar Mountain north of Big Bear Lake and the community of Fawnskin. The fire is visible from the Big Bear Valley. The fire is currently estimated at 15 acres, and is 50% contained.
USDA Forest Service, San Bernardino County Fire and CALFIRE – San Bernardino Unit have firefighters and equipment on-scene. Forest Service Night AirAttack and Night Helicopters worked the fire overnight, and have been reinforced with additional aircraft this morning. There are 221 personnel working the fire with 20 engines and 3 helicopters.
There is no immediate threat to the community, no highway closures or evacuations. Winds are blowing from the South, pushing the fire North, away from Big Bear.
For public safety reasons, the Pacific Crest Trail will be closed on Monday, October 3rd between Forest Roads 3N14 and 3N09. The Cougar Crest trail is closed.
