The Big Bear Chamber of Commerce hosted their Annual Meeting and Community Honors Luncheon at the Northwoods Resort on June 16th. Business leaders from the valley came together to honor those in the community that go above and beyond. This year’s recipients included Karon Michel as the Volunteer of the Year, who volunteers for the Chamber of Commerce and the Friends of the Moonridge Zoo, and Cari Gerlich, an employee at Pramann Chiropractic was awarded with employee of the year. Nicki Betty Bradley was named as Chambermaid of the Year, Steven Cain as the Chamber Ambassador of the Year, and Lisa Patterson of Altitude Financial as the Director of the Year. The award for Small Business of Year went to two businesses, the Copper Q, and KBHR Radio & Outdoor. Sara Russ, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce explained that KBHR was chosen as small business of the year because it is a business that provides news, public service announcements to the community, and because it practices what it preaches, and has hired over 40 local sub-contractors and businesses in the creation of its new building. Russ explained that the Copper Q was chosen because it has brought new life to the village, has helped provide for upscale shoppers and that the Copper Q is a model for what local businesses should be doing. All of the recipients were very humbled by their awards.
