Fawnskin, CA, October 14, 2011, noon – The tradition of celebrating Native American culture and legacy continues at the Big Bear Discovery Center in Fawnskin. The National Forest Association’s Feast of the Harvest Moon will take place on Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 10am – 3pm. A day of fun and education is planned for families to experience Native American tradition, song and dance, with a focus on the Serrano’s, the indigenous people of the San Bernardino region. The Festival includes a special welcome and presentation on the history of Big Bear Valley. Guests will be able to sample Serrano food, check out native animals presented by Moonridge Animal Park, go back in time through paleontology, or play traditional Native American games. Guided nature walks by the Discovery Center volunteers are also planned. Admission is free, however, a donation of $2 per person would be greatly appreciated. For more information call 909-382-2790.
