CalTrans had announced that blasting in the vicinity of the new Big Bear bridge, at the Big Bear Dam, would be done on Wednesday; however Project Manager Rob Richardson of Flatiron Construction tells KBHR that this week’s blasting has been pushed back a day. That said, blasting at Big Bear Lake’s western-most end will be taking place on Thursday, June 25, and Richardson anticipates that the blasting will be between noon and 2pm. Signage will be posted in advance, and motorists can expect delays in the area during the blasting process. Daily delays and flagging can also be expected, through the project’s completion in 2011, from 7am to 5pm weekdays at the dam on Highway 18. One lane will remain open during work hours, though delays of 15-20 minutes can be expected.
