Big Bear Lake, CA, November 29 – With Thanksgiving leftovers still in the fridge, Big Bear is ushering in Christmas!
It begins tonight in the Village, with KBHR’s Steve Cassling emceeing the Official Tree Lighting Ceremony and Santa’s Grand Entrance. The Wonderelles Rockin’ Christmas Revue will warm up the crowd between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. with a mix of traditional seasonal favorites and classic music from the 50s & 60s. The female quartet will be on the outdoor stage at the corner of Pine Knot Ave. and Village Drive.
After the show, Big Bear Lake Mayor Jay Obernolte will lead the countdown to the lighting of the Christmas tree. The Fire Department will then escort in MARTA’s Weekend Trolley carrying Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will take the stage to wave to kids, before greeting visitors personally at the Santa House until 9 p.m. After that, the Clauses will be available for children to visit every Saturday and Sunday leading up to Christmas, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Plentiful public parking can be found at the Bartlett Public Lot behind the Visitors Center or the Indian Village Lot on the south side of Village Drive.
On the east end of town on Saturday, the Fire Department will host the Annual Big Bear City Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at 301 W. Big Bear Blvd. The public is invited to join the festivities starting at 5:00 p.m., and the switch will be flipped to the tree lights at 5:30. Santa Claus will make an appearance, so children are encouraged to bring their wish lists. Families are asked to bring a plate of cookies to share; hot coffee and cider will be provided.
