This Weekend, Another Great Slate of Western Talent

Big Bear Lake, CA, June 19, 2013 – Cowboy poetry and music has been a part of western heritage for over 100 years, and this weekend, the 14th Annual Big Bear Cowboy Gathering will present the public with some of the country’s top cowboy entertainers: Sourdough Slim, Gary Robertson, The Open Range Trio and Nancy Lee.

The Cave will host the performances on June 21 and June 22, at 40789 Village Dr. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Doors open at 6:00pm; the show starts at 7:00pm. The Big Bear Cowboy Gathering is a celebration of western heritage and cowboy life through performances in cowboy poetry and music. As a nonprofit corporation, it is proud to sponsor a $1,000 scholarship for a Big Bear High School student and donate to the Big Bear Valley Education Trust — a group working on several projects to support the students in our Valley. 2013-Sourdough_Slim — With Sourdough Slim, audiences step back in time with an authentic vaudeville style cowboy show in the Will Rogers tradition. A favorite at County fairs, Slim croons Western classics, yodels, does comedy, and plays accordion, guitar and harmonica.

2013-Gary_Robertson — Cowboy Poet and Ranch Manager Gary Robertson has been performing and publishing his poetry since 1994, and one of his poems was recently chosen to be included in the book “Cowboy Poetry: The Reunion.”

2013-open_range_trio — Music that captures the “Spirit of the West”…that’s how the music of the award winning group from Montana, Open Range, has been described. Ric Steinke & Linda Hausler have won numerous awards and nominations from the Western Music Association and the Academy of Western Music.

2013-nancy_lee — Singer/songwriter/yodeler Nancy Lee is a native Californian performing all over the state. The Western Music Association honored her with two nominations for her first CD, “Cowboy Lullaby.”
