Big Bear Lake, CA, December 2, 2012 – The 14th annual Big Bear Lake International Film Festival is now open for film and screenplay entries from locals of all ages. Volunteers are also needed. Co-President and Film Programming Director Monika Skerbelis said, “We have already started to receive film submissions and are looking for local film screeners who have an interest in film and/or are a movie buff and enjoy expressing your thoughts about films.” This is an opportunity for mountain locals to watch independent films from students and emerging filmmakers from around the world. If you have the time to volunteer and can watch over 200 films from two minute short films to feature-length films and documentaries, consider being a film screener. The screening period continues through July 15, 2013. About the 12th annual screenwriting competition, Co-President & Screenwriting Competition Director Sandy Steers stated, “Our goal with this competition is to provide as much benefit to the writer as possible. As part of fulfilling that goal, we provide feedback on every screenplay entered from at least three separate readers.” Those interested in being a reader of feature screenplays from 90 to 130 pages should email their interest and qualifications to screenplaydirector@bigbearlakefilmfestival.com
Last year’s festival hosted the first student film camp program for aspiring young high school filmmakers from throughout San Bernardino County to learn about film production and new technology.
Next year’s festival will be held the weekend of September 20th.
