The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has issued an alert regarding a parolee-at-large last seen in Crestline at about 10pm last night; this same parolee—Thomas Joseph Murphy, aka Corporal–was wanted back in March and, at that time, was considered armed and dangerous. Per the current summary, issued by the Sheriff’s Department today: “On Monday, June 23 at 9:55pm, deputies were dispatched to a residence where it was reported that three females were taken hostage by a subject. Witnesses said Thomas Murphy arrived at a residence in the Crestline area looking for his girlfriend. Murphy forced a female against her will into the house and held her and four other subjects inside the residence. He threatened to kill them if they attempted to leave or escape the house. During the incident, a female attempted to flee the residence and Murphy assaulted her. When another female attempted to help her, Murphy struck her with a hammer. One female was able to escape and contacted a family member, who in turn notified the Sheriff’s Department. Murphy fled the scene prior to deputies’ arrival and his whereabouts are unknown at this time. Investigators are currently seeking his whereabouts. Murphy is wanted for Kidnapping, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and for being in violation of his parole.” Murphy is described as a white male adult, age 41, approximately 6’1” and 230 pounds. He has several tattoos, including a swastika on his neck and, as noted in March, is hard of hearing but can read lips. Any and all information as to Murphy’s whereabouts should be immediately directed to the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s dispatch at 909/387-8313; anonymous calls can be made to WeTip at 800-78-CRIME.
