The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for the San Bernardino mountains and surrounding deserts today (Thursday, August 6). Strong, gusty winds up to 35 miles per hour are expected during this Wind Advisory, which extends through 9pm tonight. These strong winds could make driving difficult, especially for those in high profile vehicles, so motorists are advised to use caution, and watch for downed power lines and tree limbs. The National Weather Service further advises that blowing dust and sand in the desert areas could severely reduce visibility during today’s wind event.
Update: The National Weather Service has also added a Red Flag Warning to today’s advisories for the mountains. A Red Flag Warning indicates critical fire conditions, given low humidity coupled with strong winds.
