Big Bear, Ca, December 20, 2010 3:00pm – The Big Bear Valley is currently on day five of constant rain. In the past two days the winds have picked up, and today the winds have reached as high as 66 mph. The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the entire Southern California Region, with a flash flood warning in effect for the Northwestern region of SB County, pertaining to the Barstow area, until 8pm tonight. In the Big Bear Valley, we are currently at a flash flood warning until Wednesday. Due to the amount of rain we have received and the high winds, a few trees have fallen in the Big Bear Valley. One tree fell at the Copper Q, another at the Bavarian Lodge, and another tree fell onto an apartment building and on three cars on Summit Blvd. The Red Cross has been called to create an evacuation center for the people who live in the apartment buildings where the tree hit because another tree was hit when the first tree went down. The residents of the apartment building have all been evacuated. Everyone is advised to drive carefully, watch for debris in the roadway, be aware of high winds, and stay home unless travel is absolutely necessary.
