Big Bear Lake, CA, October 2, 2013 – October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. That means it’s time for the annual “Walk-a-Mile-in-Her-Shoes” event, presented by DOVES on October 6th at the Big Bear Masonic Lodge.
The day’s awareness activities will begin at 12:30 p.m. with a free lunch and a presentation on the theme of “It Takes a Community,” where community heroes will be recognized for their positive contributions to the DOVES mission of conflict resolution through nonviolent means.
At the end of the lunch, men and boys will strap on women’s shoes for a walk along the boulevard. Once again, members of the Big Bear High School football team will carry the banner announcing they are “Men Marching Against Violence Against Women.” Any male is invited to join in to show support.
The events are free, but a $10.00 donation to cover the costs of food and shoes will be gladly accepted.
