Big Bear, CA, April 14, 2016 – The second annual Meadows Edge Clean Up Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 7, 2016, at the popular day use picnic area from 9am to 1pm. Volunteers of all ages are needed to help with the general clean up and prepare this popular family area for the 2016 summer season. Registration is required at MountainsFoundation.
Volunteers can participate with family and friends and make it FUN! Free lunch and tools are provided. In addition, an opportunity drawing will be available to win prizes.
“We’re looking forward to the 2016 event to pull together as a community and give back to our North Shore and the incredibly popular day use area that serves thousands of visitors each year,” said Kathy Clapsaddle, Development Director, Southern California Mountains Foundation. “In the process, our volunteers will learn how they are making a difference in forest, marine and wildlife health and sustainability.”
Meadows Edge is located on Highway 38, 2 miles east of Fawnskin on the North Shore of Big Bear Lake and adjacent to Serrano Campground. The 2015 clean up was the inaugural event hosting over 75 volunteers with expectations exceeded in removing a huge amount of trash items.
The event is co-sponsored by the nonprofit Southern California Mountains Foundation; U.S. Forest Service; and Mountaintop Recreation, a Division of California Land Management.
