San Bernardino Mountains, Ca, February 22, 2011, 4:00pm – The following is an update on the bus accident that occurred on February 21st. The bus driver, 61-year-old resident of Los Angeles, Won Seok Chae died on scene at the accident, and the passengers of the bus have all been transported to hospitals with minor to major injuries. Ranging in age from 11 to 28 the passengers were taken to Loma Linda University Medical center, San Bernardino Community Hospital, and Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. The bus had just left the Pinecrest Christian Conference Center and was headed back to Pasadena when the bus drifted into the opposing lane colliding with a Nissan Murano carrying Mark and Jacquelyn Peebles. The Peebles were both taken to Loma Linda with non life threatening injuries. Mark Peebles is the Battalion Chief for San Bernardino County Fire Department. Three individuals were taken into surgery on the night of the accident with critical injuries. There have been no further updates on their condition. The following agencies were on scene to assist with the collision: California Highway Patrol, Crest Forest Fire Department, San Bernardino County Fire, Cal Fire, Running Springs Fire Department, Mercy Air, U.S. Forest Service, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, San Bernardino City Fire Department, and San Manuel Fire Department.
