Big Bear, Ca, July 28, 2011, 12:00pm – “You’ve hiked these trails. You’ve biked these trails. Come help us take care of these trails.” Is the request from the Big Bear Valley Trails Foundation. This Sunday, the Trails Foundation is looking for volunteers to help with trail maintenance on the Seven Oaks trail. Last year the Trails Foundation re-cut and rehabbed the trail that had been overgrown and unpassable for decades. Seven Oaks trail connects the south ridge of Big Bear to the valley below, and has wonderful views of San Gorgonio. The Trails Foundation will meet at 2:00pm on Sunday in the Bear Mountain Parking Lot, and will carpool to the trailhead, as parking is limited in the area. The crews will head back down to Bear Mountain at 6pm, unless work on the trail is completed sooner. Those interested in helping are recommended to bring the following gear: sturdy shoes and long pants, work gloves, a hat, eye protection, sunglasses, sunscreen, water and snacks. As a thank you, those that volunteer will get a free Trails Foundation T-Shirt. For more information or to RSVP call 909- 585-3467.
