Third District County Supervisor Neil Derry, Big Bear Lake Mayor Rick Herrick, and Big Bear and Fawnskin Chambers of Commerce representatives Ken Dally and Jim Dooley will join CalTrans officials, including District 8 Director Dr. Raymond Wolfe, on Thursday morning for the official groundbreaking of the Big Bear Bridge, though the ceremony will take place at the Big Bear Lake Performing Arts Center. Community members are welcome to partake in the 11am groundbreaking for the dam replacement bridge, which will be constructed just southwest of the Big Bear Dam. The long-awaited project will also include a traffic signal at the intersection of Highways 18 and 38, as well as pedestrian access to the new bridge to be constructed over land belonging to the San Bernardino National Forest.
