Big Bear City, CA, September 18, 2014 – Shortly after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, Big Bear Sheriff’s Deputy Ferronato pulled a driver over for tailgating near the intersection of North Shore Drive and Mound Street in Big Bear City. The vehicle’s driver of the vehicle, 53-year-old Daniel Vanbuskirk, was found to be driving on a suspended license and to be carrying a large quantity of methamphetamine. Vanbuskirk resisted arrest and reportedly initiating a fight with the Deputy; additional deputies arrived on scene to assist. Two deputies received minor injuries and were treated at Bear Valley Community Hospital. Vanbuskirk was tased and taken into custody without further incident.
The Sheriff’s Station says cash and packaging consistent with drug sales was found in the suspect’s vehicle. Vanbuskirk was booked into the Big Bear Jail on felony charges of resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance for sale. He remains in custody in lieu of $50,000. An arraignment hearing in this matter is set for 09/19/14 at San Bernardino County Superior Court.
