Supervisor Neil Derry released a statement regarding the complaint filed against him by the Attorney General pertaining to a campaign contribution violation. “I have always tried to comply with the reporting requirements for my campaigns. If I made a mistake I will correct it. I was not informed of this supposed error before I received the complaint, however, and have not been given the opportunity to voluntarily correct any mistake,” Supervisor Derry said. “As soon as I can review the facts with my campaign treasurer and attorney, I will take whatever action they advise. Until that time I cannot make any further comment.” Derry was recently charged with two felonies and one misdemeanor for alleged reporting violations in connection with a $5,000 contribution he received during his campaign for Supervisor in 2007. The contribution, sources say, was contributed to a political action committee operated by former county Assessor Bill Postmus. The political action committee in turn allegedly contributed money to Derry’s campaign. Derry has an arraignment scheduled for June 9th. Chairwoman of the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors Josie Gonzales, stated that the County will cooperate with the Attorney General’s office, and that she will not allow the actions of any one individual to define this County.
