It is officially ski season in the Big Bear Valley as, come Thanksgiving, both Bear Mountain and Snow Summit resorts will be open for skiing and snowboarding. Bear Mountain has been open since October and, given snowmaking and a snowfall on Friday the 13th, has a snow depth up to 18 inches, as well as a number of terrain features on Central Park. As of Thursday morning, Snow Summit will be open, from top to bottom, including Chairs 1 and 8. Holiday rates for both resorts are $35 for adults, $30 for young adults, and $15 for children; reservations are recommended, via BigBearMountainResorts.com, as it is a holiday weekend. And, if you’re not yet ready to embrace the boots, the Bear Mountain Golf Course is also open through the Thanksgiving weekend, with hours of operation from 10am to 3pm, weather permitting.
