Big Bear Valley, CA — Though Snow Conditions are, as of Thursday afternoon, no longer in effect (meaning parking on city streets is once again allowed), we can expect more winter weather in coming days. The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Southern California, and this applies to the San Bernardino mountains, as well as Lucerne and Apple Valley areas. Dense fog can be expected for those traveling on mountain highways this morning (Friday), so drivers are advised to allow extra distance between vehicles, reduce speed and be prepared for sudden changes in visibility. Into tonight, snow levels may drop to 5500 feet; for more details on local weather, stay tuned for KBHR’s weather update with Ben Brissey, which airs on 93.3 FM at quarter past the hour, every hour. In the meantime, travelers are reminded to carry chains when in the mountains during the winter months. For updates on road conditions and chain requirements, visit the KBHR Big Bear Road Conditions page.
Update: The National Weather Service has upgraded the Hazardous Weather Outlook to a Winter Weather Advisory, indicating periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain; this advisory is in effect as of Friday evening and extends into Saturday.
