Big Bear Mountain Resorts report that they have received half an inch of new, fresh snow since about 3am this morning and this, coupled with snowmaking in recent weeks, makes for a snow depth of 1-2 feet at Bear Mountain, which remains open through the weekend for skiing and snowboarding. Early season rates–at $25 for adults, $20 for young adults–are in effect, and half-day sessions are available, starting at noon.
Given this morning’s snow, the National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the San Bernardino mountains, given patchy dense fog on the coastal mountain slopes. Weekend highs are only expected to reach the 40s, so we can expect a cool weekend here in the Big Bear Valley.
