Big Bear, Ca, April 29, 2011, 9:00am – The Big Bear Group of the Sierra Club is hosting an Earth Day Fair on Saturday from 11:00am to 4:00pm in the Village on Pine Knot Avenue in the Copper Q’s parking area. This free event will feature a variety of informational booths and children’s activities, including a shopping bag decorating activity for kids for just $3.00, free native plant coloring books, newsletters and Earth Day tattoos. The Department of Water and Power and the Community Services District will have xeriscape information and demonstration gardens and Big Bear Disposal will have information on recycling. According to Sierra Club, Big Bear Group President Christie Walker, other local organizations will be on hand with educational materials and information on a variety of ways we can live harmoniously with nature. Walker invites everyone to “come on down and join the fun while celebrating the planet we live on.” She also says “as the saying goes, there is no planet B.”
