Big Bear Lake, CA — Local families in need will be the beneficiaries of this Saturday’s event at Community Church by the Lake, billed as Sustain Dos. Last year’s Sustain event, which featured dinner and live entertainment, ultimately raised $6000 for Community Church’s Benevolent Fund, which assists many struggling and single-parent families with expenses such as utility bills. According to Andy Meadors, who is coordinating the event with wife Megan (director of the MOM Project), “This is the same as last year’s Sustain event, which was dinner and entertainment to aid Big Bear families in need, but this round we’re calling it Sustain Dos, with a Spanish flavor of carne asada tacos made by the members of Community’s Latino church. We’re going to have a couple well-known local bands and a band from L.A. called Romany Rye.” The event takes place after the Tour de Big Bear on Saturday, May 22, starting at 6pm. The requested per-plate donation is $10, and those who contribute non-perishable food items will be entered into an opportunity drawing during the Sustain Dos event at Community Church (located at 40946 Big Bear Boulevard).
