Big Bear Valley, CA — This Saturday brings a full moon and, in Big Bear, two opportunities for entertainment under the stars. The Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District will present the first of five Movies on the Beach, with a sunset screening of the animated family film “Planet 51,” presented free of charge, thanks to the Kiwanis Club of Big Bear Valley. Gates open at 7pm at Swim Beach, located at 41220 Park Avenue in Big Bear Lake. The snack bar will be open during the Movie on the Beach event, and attendees are welcome to bring coolers, though no glass or alcohol will be permitted. For more information, call the Rec and Park District at 866-9700. This Saturday the 26th also marks the second in the Music in the Mountains concert series, presented at the outdoor amphitheater of the Big Bear Discovery Center on Big Bear Lake’s North Shore. The 7pm show marks the final return of local favorite The Long Run, Eagles cover band. Gates open at 5:30pm, and hosts of the San Bernardino National Forest Association will offer a snack bar, beer, wine and margaritas for purchase. Tickets to The Long Run concert are $20, $10 for teens and free for children, with all proceeds to benefit Peace Gardens at local schools and forest restoration. For more information, visit sbnfa.org or call the Discovery Center at 866-3437.
The Sierra Club also offers a full moon walkabout in Holcomb Valley on Saturday evening; see our Take a Hike story for more information.
