Big Bear, Ca, August 4, 2011, 1:00pm –The San Bernardino National Forest Association is one of 500 finalists in Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good program, which will award vehicles to 100 nonprofit organizations based on votes from the public. Local residents, members, volunteers and advocates are encouraged to support the San Bernardino National Forest Association and their quest for a new Toyota Highlander Hybrid. If the San Bernardino National Forest Association receives the most votes and is awarded the vehicle, it will provide desperately needed and reliable transportation for the youth of the valley as they continue their efforts in forest restoration through the National Children’s Forest youth leadership and development program. The eco-friendly Toyota Highlander Hybrid would increase the number of youth participating by 50% in long-term forest restoration projects requiring travel in a 60-mile radius to remote sites. Consequently, more critical work will get done; thereby, creating healthier communities and more environmentally conscious residents and visitors to advocate for our public lands.
