The Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District has opened Swim Beach for the season, and hours of operation are currently noon to 5pm on both Saturdays and Sundays. In addition to a white sandy beach (and current lake temps in the 60s), the district’s Assistant Regional Manager Lorie Judd says, “We have qualified, certified lifeguards on staff and the snack bar is open. There’s even BarBQs and a picnic area, as well as showers for when you’re done swimming. And here’s the exciting news: we’re anxiously awaiting the arrival of our brand new 16 foot slide. The kids are going to love it!” As of June 18, when school’s out for the summer, Swim Beach will be open every day. The beach is located at the western-most end of Park Avenue at Meadow Park in Big Bear Lake, and admission cost is $5 for adults, and $4 for seniors and children up to age 12; season passes are also available. Adds Judd, “Come float your cares away at Swim Beach—we look forward to seeing you here!” The beach will also serve as the setting for the Fourth of July concert featuring Lou Gramm of Foreigner. Many great, lakeview seats are still available, and proceeds will benefit the Rec & Park’s Teen Center programs. For ticket information, visit BigBearParks.com, or call 866-9700.
And this just in… Rec & Park’s swimming pool at The Ranch Sports Complex is also open on weekends, from noon to 5pm. Admission price for open swim is $3 for adults, $2 for children under 12.
June 26 update: The 16′ slide is now at Swim Beach!
