Fawnskin, CA, January 24, 2014 – The Big Bear Renaissance Faire has announced their 2014 dates, and if it sounds early to be thinking about tickets, remember that some events–like the Queens’ Tea, Warriors Table and the Royal Gallery–sold out last year. The annual event’s living history reenactments and merry entertainers draw families and avid fair-goers from around the region. It’s likely to be the same story this year, with the Faire scheduled for 10:00 a.m. to – 6:00 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday from August 2 to August 17, at 39115 Rim of the World Drive in Fawnskin.
The Big Bear Valley Renaissance Society, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit for education corporation that gathers enough money each year to advance academic pursuits by students and educators. Most recently, it awarded a perpetual grant to Support Performing Arts In Schools (SPAIS), a foundation that buys musical instruments for children; a grant to Jessica George for teaching and studies in Thailand; a grant to Megan Doyle to finish her studies and RPT certification; and a grant to Rebecca Saffron for an after-school program. The Society’s CFO, Lynda McGinnis, says scholarship funds are still available, and that students and teachers of all ages are welcome to email a letter of need and intent to Lynda@bbvrsinc.org. The Board will consider any educational endeavor, including field trips or the purchase of classroom supplies.
In addition, the organization will award more student funds during the Faire this August: two $500 scholarships in the Shakespearean competition, and another $2,000 for the essay contest.
