Big Bear City, CA, April 7, 2014 – The Big Bear City Community Services District (CSD) is having their next board meeting tonight, and there are several items of interest to their customers.
The list of Proposed Ordinances includes increases in service fees for water and sewer connections, commercial disposal and ambulance service. It’s also proposed that related charges be collected on the tax roll.
The CSD reports that increasing the water connection fee to $8,587.78 will finance public facilities to provide water services for new development.
The increase in ambulance fees is based on a report by the District Fire Chief showing the cost of providing service–i.e., $103 for an ECG.
Other adjustments are being made in response rising costs outside the district. The sewer rate increase, for example, will be adopted on the advice of the District Engineer, to account for the previous year’s increases in the ENR Cost Index for Southern California. The new proposed sewer connection fee of $2,087.26 would provide sufficient revenue to construct additional sewer facilities. And increasing commercial disposal fees are an effort to offset the fees charged the CSD by the County of San Bernardino, which are also increasing.
Also on the Adoption Agenda is a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the CSD and the Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District. Their 2009 lease agreement to develop a park on Paradise Way has expired due to lack of funding. The county needs a current MOU before Park District GM Reese Troublefield can pursue funding.
Tonight’s Board meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at 139 East Big Bear Blvd. Full agenda packets can always be found online.
