Fawnskin, CA, March 19, 2014 – The Redlands Bicycle Classic is a world-class five-day road cycling race that men and women from all over the country compete in. Next month, there will be a significant local impact for some local residents, when road closures will add time to commutes.
The time trial for the bike race is scheduled for Thursday, April 3rd along the north shore of Big Bear Lake. Hard road closures will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. between the west end of North Shore Lane and Stanfield Cutoff. In addition, the total closure will extend to downtown Fawnskin from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
During these closures, residents who live north of North Shore Drive and west of Canyon Road can access their homes via Navajo Street near the Fawnskin Fire Station.
There will be westbound access available by police escort only for two 15-minute periods: 11:15 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 12:25 p.m. – 12:40 p.m.
Those needing an escort off the race course should call (909) 499-6350; the escort leaves from Bruin or Canyon Road and Highway 38 only.
