Baldwin Lake/Big Bear City, CA — The Big Bear Sheriff’s Station has issued an urgent alert, asking for the public’s assistance in locating an eight-year-old girl who has been missing since yesterday afternoon. Elizabeth Reed was last seen in the 2100 block of East Seventh Lane in Baldwin Lake, after exiting the school bus at 2:15pm on Thursday, February 11. Eight-year-old Elizabeth Reed is a white female with blond hair, 4’1” tall and 70 lbs; she was last seen wearing a black jacket with hearts on it, a blue turtleneck and pants of an unknown color. Those with any information on her whereabouts are urged to call the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station’s dispatch line at 909/866-7581. A photo of Reed is unavailable at this time.
Update: Just before noon, the Sheriff’s Department recalled their alert, as Elizabeth Reed was found. Since our announcement on KBHR, in addition to announcements from a Sheriff’s helicopter, an individual aware of the situation saw the eight-year-old walking down the road, and contacted the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station. She is said to be OK, though information on where she spent the last 21 hours has not yet been released.
Update: In a subsequent update from the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station, we are told that conversations with Reed’s family are ongoing as of this afternoon, though it appears that the young girl spent the night at a friend’s house.
