Big Bear, Ca, September 21, 2010, 12:00pm – More than 100 volunteers are needed to help beautify grounds around Big Bear High School. In celebration of National Public Lands Day (NPLD) the National Forest Association in cooperation with The Light House Project, US Forest Service, Greenthumbs and Big Bear High School are teaming up to create a beautiful, xeriscape in the front of Big Bear High School. National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest hands-on volunteer effort to enhance public lands Americans enjoy. In 2009, 150,000 volunteers built trails and bridges, removed trash and invasive plants, planted trees and restored waterways. The San Bernardino National Forest Association invites you to be a part of this amazing national day of service by participating in the local community event at Big Bear High School. Approximately 500 seedlings and small shrubs need to be put in the ground and it will take a strong volunteer turnout to complete the work. Volunteers should bring gloves, sunscreen, water bottle and enthusiasm! Lunch will be provided in thanks for all of your hard work.
