Big Bear, CA, December 15, 2015 – All schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District are closed today due to the receipt of a “credible threat of violence.” Bear Valley Unified School District wants to assure everyone that they are following ongoing reports on this situation and will keep us informed of any circumstance that may affect students in the Big Bear Valley.
Additionally, San Bernardino Valley College remains closed today due to the receipt of a credible threat on Monday, but has been cleared to reopen Wednesday, December 16, after a thorough search of the campus.
BVUSD is in contact with the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools and will keep us apprised of any information pertinent to all of us in Big Bear Valley. The County Superintendent of Schools reports “in San Bernardino County, no K-12 school districts have reported being closed this morning.”
Tiffany Swantek of the Big Bear Sheriff’s Department offered the following information: In Big Bear, at this time, we have had no indication or any reports of any threats to the Big Bear Valley. The Sheriff continues to ask people to remain diligent and watchful for any suspicious activity and to report any such activity right away.
