Big Bear, CA October 3, 2015 – State Senator Mike Morrell of the 23rd District recognizes woman who have gone above and beyond to serve others through community service or civic involvement. Kristine Yoshida, from Big Bear Lake has been selected to receive the Woman of Distinction award on October 16th, 2015.
Kristine, along with her husband Jeff and two teenage sons Cole and Conner have been residents of the Big Bear Valley for 20 years. In addition to owning and running her business Summit Dental, Kristine enjoys hanging out with her family, traveling, cooking, and staying physically active.
Prior to living in Big Bear Kristine was a student and graduate of UCLA Dental School where she received multiple academic awards and was on a research team with the chair of Biomaterials. After graduating in 1994, she completed a prestigious General Practice Residency at the Long Beach VA Hospital, where she was the only female dentist resident.
Locally, Kristine is a member of the Village Business Association, the Chamber of Commerce, and an active member of Soroptimist International of Big Bear Valley. Kristine believes that giving back to the community is an important responsibility she has because Big Bear has been so generous to her.
Woman of Distinction Awards acknowledging remarkable woman for their contributions to our state and region has been an annual legislative tradition since 1987. Celebrations include weekly recognition’s of woman’s accomplishments on the floors of both houses and the passage of resolutions commemorating Woman’s History Month.
The recognition dinner and awards will be held on October 16, 2015 at the University of Redlands located at 1200 East Colton Ave.
