San Bernardino Mountains, Ca, October 15, 2010, 9:00am – A 17-year old juvenile from Crestline was arrested and released to his parent with criminal charges pending related to the cause of the August 17th, 2010, fire that started at the edge of Lake Silverwood near Miller Canyon. The fire that started on State Land quickly spread into the adjacent San Bernardino National Forest in which 66 acres were burned. A preliminary investigation determined that the fire was suspicious in nature. Arson investigators from CAL FIRE responded to Miller Canyon and initiated an in-depth investigation regarding the cause of the fire. During the course of their lengthy investigation, information was obtained which indicated that the cause of the fire might have had criminal implications. Captain/Investigator Markle from CAL FIRE contacted the detective division with the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station requesting assistance in the investigation. Captain Markle, Tominaga and Deputy Brimmer conducted interviews related to the investigation. As a result of their combined investigation, the Crestline juvenile suspect was identified and interviewed prior to the arrest of this subject.
