Historical Museum Open for Labor Day; Big Bear Valley Historical Society Meets at DC on Wednesday

The Big Bear Valley Historical Society’s museum, the only museum in the San Bernardino mountains, is open today (September 7), for the final Monday of the summer season—though the historical museum is open on weekends and Wednesdays into October. The historical museum, located on Greenway Drive in Big Bear City (where Highways 18 and 38 overlap) is open until 4pm and admission for adults is just $3. The museum includes historic, turn-of the century cabins, a stamp mill, and a working blacksmith shop, as well as exhibits on the Serrano Indians and Big Bear’s history in fox farming and feature films.
The next meeting of the Big Bear Valley Historical Society will be this Wednesday, September 9 at 7pm the Big Bear Discovery Center. Featured guest will be Daniel Lutzik, president and on-site project manager for the El Garces Rehabilitation Project; his presentation, titled “The Revitalization of Fred Harvey Hotels in the Southwest,” will highlight restoration projects on La Posada Hotel of Winslow, Arizona and El Garces Hotel in Needles.
