Big Bear, CA, February 17, 2016 – According to the National Weather Service, a storm approaching from the Pacific Northwest today will drive a cold front south across the state on Thursday. The storm will generate strong, possibly damaging winds over the mountains and adjacent desert areas of San Bernardino County. All mountains of Southern California will see strong winds Wednesday night into Thursday. But the area of greatest concern for wind extends along the ridge tops of the San Bernardino Mountains and adjacent desert foothill areas from Pinion Hills and Phelan, east through Hesperia, to near Lucerne Valley. Highways 18 and 247 may be impacted with very strong cross winds. Winds of 50 to 60 mph with gusts of 75 mph or more are possible. Residents and travelers through this area on Wednesday night and Thursday morning should prepare for these windy conditions.
