The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the mountains and deserts today (July 24). This Flash Flood Watch, prompted by the likelihood of thunderstorms, is in effect from noon through this evening. Big Bear Valley residents concerned about potential flooding in their area can pick up sandbags, which (verified this morning) are available for Fawnskin residents at County Fire Station #49 in Fawnskin; for East Valley residents, are available from the Big Bear City Fire Department; and, for those who live in Big Bear Lake, from the Public Works Yard on Garstin Drive. For more information on the weather, including the Flash Flood Watch in effect for our area today, tune in to KBHR’s local weather report with Ben Brissey, which airs at 15 minutes after the hour throughout the day.
