Big Bear Lake, CA, July 3, 2012, 8:00am – San Bernardino National Forest Officials are reminding visitors and campers that the use of fireworks is prohibited on all national forests and national grasslands. Fireworks and other pyrotechnic devices are prohibited on national grassland and national forest land year-round, regardless of weather conditions or holidays. Officers from the Forest Service, San Bernardino & Riverside County, CHP, California Department of Fish and Game, Calfire, and California State Parks will be out in force and regulations will be strictly enforced. A violation is punishable as a misdemeanor with a maximum fine of $5,000 or imprisonment up to six months, or both. Forest visitors are encouraged to attend public fireworks displays like the one right here in Big Bear Valley over Big Bear Lake.
