Big Bear Lake, CA, August 27, 2012 — The Big Bear Lake International Film Festival has always strived to be a catalyst for young and emerging talent. Now, with a generous contribution from County Supervisor Neil Derry, they’re expanding their educational outreach to high school students throughout Southern California. This year’s Festival will include the first ever Film Camp for 28 aspiring filmmakers. The students will get four days of hands-on training, workshops and seminars with industry professionals and festival honorees. Organized and led by Camp Ambassadors, the campers will make their way through each day’s events in groups designed to focus on specific aspects of filmmaking including:
- Screenwriting and Story Development
- Camera and Production Equipment Workshops
- Cinematography Workshops
- Graphic Animation and 3-D Workshops
- Directing and Introduction to Acting
- Sets, Props, and Production Design
- Post-Production Skills
- Festival Event and Interview Documentation
- Independent Film Screenings and Q&A’s with Filmmaker
This program is designed for high school students who are passionate about making films. Participation in the program will require the student to be engaged 8 to 12 hours each day in various workshops, screenings and other events.
The deadline to submit applications is September 4. Camp tuition is $630 but scholarships are available.
