Big Bear, Ca, November 1, 2010, 12:00pm – In honor of America’s Veterans and Armed Services personnel, Thursday, November 11, will be a “Fee Free Day” on the national forests in Southern California. The National Forest Adventure Pass will not be required for visitors in the San Bernardino, Angeles, Cleveland and Los Padres National Forests. The Forest Service is working to ensure as many visitors as possible have the opportunity to experience the great outdoors and take advantage of the recreational activities America’s national forests and grasslands have to offer. Southern California Recreation Fee Program Manager Al Colby says “By waiving fees, the Forest Service hopes everyone will have the opportunity to enjoy the wonder and rejuvenation of recreation on national forests and grasslands, while also honoring our country’s veterans,” The Veterans Day Free Day is observed each year on November 11, regardless of the day of the week. In addition to Veterans Day, the Southern California national forests also waive fees on National Trails Day in June and National Public Lands Day in September.
