Big Bear, Ca, August 9, 2011, 12:00pm – This past weekend boasted many exciting events for the Big Bear Valley that drew crowds in the thousands. The Big Bear Air Fair sold over 7,200 tickets and, coupled with vendors and volunteers, the crowd was estimated between 7,500 and 8,000. There were 50 aircraft on display and 60 planes flew in for the day to attend the Air Fair. Saturday morning, the 2nd Annual Tour de Big Bear had 600 paid registrants, with two thirds registering Friday night, resulting in participants staying overnight in the Big Bear Valley. After the bike tours were finished the 2nd Annual Blues for the Zoo took place on Saturday afternoon with close to 1,000 people in attendance enjoying the musical stylings of the Blues. On Saturday and Sunday, the Xterra Trail Run, Triathlon and Duathlon took place at the Snow Valley Ski Area and Rim Nordic with 243 athletes participating. Overall it was an event packed weekend that brought people to the Big Bear Valley from not only California, but Nevada, Arizona, Mexico, and other western states.
