Big Bear Lake, CA — The City of Big Bear Lake has released the 2009 year-end film services report that gives an estimation of the local economic impact for the Big Bear Valley from the television and film industry. Since 2004, the City of Big Bear Lake has contracted with the Inland Empire Film Commission for their Film Services. Services include promoting and marketing film projects for the City and providing film industry standards of service to location manager and producers. Some advantages of encouraging filming in Big Bear include employment of local crew and services, catering and lodging which routinely benefit from the entertainment industry. In 2009, it is estimated that $2,595,000 was the impact felt locally. Fifty-one percent of this came from feature films, 16% from commercials and 10% from reality television shows. Other smaller productions that contributed include documentaries, episodic television, stills, student productions and music videos.
